DCDSB 2023-2024 EQAO and OSSLT Results

Posted On Tuesday October 01, 2024

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) provides Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) board, school and individual student reports based on the results of annual student provincial assessments. The 2023-2024 reports are now available and include data from the Primary and Junior assessments, Grade 9 Mathematics, and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). These EQAO reports, used in conjunction with report card grades, learning skills, and in-class evaluations, can help educators, students and families identify achievements and areas for improvement to ensure student success.

Below are the board and provincial results of students achieving at or above the provincial standards for each area of testing.

DCDSB is pleased to report that the Grade 6, Grade 9, and OSSLT assessments meet or exceed the provincial results this year. Provincially, Grade 3 assessments have experienced a slight decrease from the previous year and DCDSB results reflect a similar trajectory. To improve student achievement results we have implemented several strategies, with a particular focus on our early learners.

These include:

  • Specialized intervention teachers working in priority classrooms to close learning gaps in literacy and numeracy.
  • Universal Reading Screening of all students in Year 2 Kindergarten to Grade 2 to identify foundational reading skills.
  • Professional Development for teachers and literacy leads to support foundational reading skills.
  • MathUP, a Canadian text and teacher resource, has been purchased for all classrooms in Grades K-9.
  • Purchase of a digital math tool for students in Grades 1-8 to reinforce learning in the classroom.
  • Math resources for families available on the DCDSB website, including games, activities and links to free online tutoring.

The insights provided from the EQAO data will be used along with other assessment and evaluation data to improve student learning and student success. Individual school, board and provincial results can be found at: https://www.eqao.com/results/
